KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Monday declined 13.71 points to close at 2,165.10 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,178.81 points and went to the day’s high at 2,202.34 points. However, the market failed to retain its charm for the investors in the latter hours, taking the market in the downward direction in the remaining trading hours.

The daily turnover increased to Rs 3.864 billion from Rs 3.044 billion on Thursday.
In the intraday trading, only 41 companies gained in their market value whereas 166 companies were the losers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also declined 2.05 points.
Only two groups including banking and mutual funds gained in their market prices on Monday. Of the 10 losers, non-life insurance registered a three-digit fall, the largest of all.
In individual companies, Kumari Bank Limited had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 274.82 million. Himalayan Hydropower Limited was the topmost loser, while Adarsha Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited gained the highest value in its market price.
