NEPSE loses 31.43 points as 211 companies lose their market values

KATHMANDU, Dec 19: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday declined by 31.43 points to close at 2,596.82 points.

KATHMANDU, Dec 19: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday declined by 31.43 points to close at 2,596.82 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,628.26 points and climbed to the day’s high at 2,634.57 points in the first 37 minutes. The index then went into straight fall and hit the day’s low at 2,595.05 points when trading was left for the last 12 minutes. The market recovered around one point in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also decreased 4.35 points. The daily turnover increased slightly to Rs 4.76 billion from Rs 4.27 billion on Wednesday.


All the 13 groups were recorded as losers. Non-life insurance, life insurance and trading were among the largest losers, with their indices declining by 133.57 points, 132.62 points and 131.52 points, respectively.  


Among the individual companies, only 29 were gainers while 211 were registered as losers. Janaki Finance Company had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 176.05 million. Narayani Development Bank Limited suffered the largest fall of 9.21 percent of its market price. Support Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha was recorded as the topmost loser with 10 percent.
