KATHMANDU, Dec 29: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday plunged by 21.12 points to close at 2,609.58 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,630.71 points and went through nominal fluctuations for the next one and a half hours. The index reached the day’s high at 2,640.95 points by midway of the total trading time. The market then went to a straight fall and hit the day’s low at 2,602.3 points when three minutes were left for trading. The market recovered around seven points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also shed 2.46 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 5.47 billion from Rs 5.32 billion on Thursday.
Three groups including microfinance, ‘others’ and mutual funds were the gainers, with microfinance posting the largest gain of 55.50 points. Out of the 10 losers, the development bank shed 142.35 points, the largest of all.
Among the individual companies, 69 were gainers while 172 were registered as losers. Prabhu Bank Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 261.08 million.
Five companies including Support Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha, Narayani Development Bank, Saptakoshi Development Bank, Janaki Finance Company Limited and Sindhu Bikash Bank were recorded as the topmost losers. Mahila Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha witnessed the largest gain of 10 percent in its market price.
