Nepse gains 25.31 points, daily turnover amount increases to Rs 3.187 billion on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, July 12: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday inclined up 25.31 points to close at 2,097.55 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,072.24 points and kept escalating to the day’s high at 2,099.71 points by the midway of the four trading hours. In the remaining time, the index slid around two points before the market closed for the day.

In the intraday trading, 185 listed companies gained while 38 companies lost in their market values. The sensitive index that measures the performance of the blue chip companies gained 3.28 points.


Out of 13 trading groups, 11 were gainers, while non-life insurance added 106.80 points. Of the two losers, hotels and tourism, and finance lost 51.08 points and 39.20 points, respectively.  


The daily turnover amount stood at Rs 3.187 billion, up from Rs 2.859 billion on Tuesday. According to stockbrokers, investors have been encouraged to inject money with the possibility of banks to reduce interest rates on loans due to a soaring liquidity with them.  


Among individual companies, Shivam Cements had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 339.35 million. Shiva Shree Hydropower gained the highest of 10 percent of its market price, while Rawa Energy Development Limited was recorded as the topmost loser.
