NEPSE escalates 15.79 points; daily turnover increases to Rs 5.53 billion

KATHMANDU, July 9: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday escalated 15.79 points to close at 2,152.14 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,136.35 points and plunged to the day’s low at 2,130.41 points in the first 35 minutes. The index however went up to 2,145.13 points in the next half an hour. The market remained stable around this mark for the next two hours before it inclined to add around seven points before it closed for the day.  

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also added 3.50 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 5.53 billion from Rs 4.56 billion on Monday.

Among four losers—manufacturing and processing, hotels and tourism, trading and finance-- manufacturing and processing lost the largest of 35.48 points. Out of the eight gaining groups, microfinance added the biggest of 142.69 points.

Among individual companies, 168 were recorded as gainers whereas 68 were the losers.

NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 197.77 million. Ganapati Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was recorded as the topmost gainer, while Siddhartha Investment Growth Scheme-2 was recorded as the highest loser.
