Nepali Army responds to media claims, reaffirms commitment to constitutional duties

KATHMANDU, March 19: The Nepali Army has issued a statement addressing recent remarks made on various media platforms regarding the political inclination of the institution. The Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepali Army released the statement on Wednesday, reaffirming the army's stance.


"The Nepal Army remains committed to fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities to safeguard the country's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, freedom, and national unity," the statement read.

The army also noted that various comments, opinions, and analyses involving the institution have been circulated in the media and on social platforms in recent days.


"The Nepali Army regularly communicates its position and activities through press conferences, press releases, official social media channels, and military programs," the statement added.


The army urged the public and media to seek accurate information directly from its Directorate of Public Relations and Information.


The army’s clarification has come in the wake of recent statements made by Rabindra Mishra, senior vice chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), regarding the Nepali Army, calling for its support in reinstating the monarchy.
