LONDON, Sept 18: A memorial ceremony was held in London on Thursday to honor those who lost their lives or remain missing following devastating floods, glacier-related events and landslides in Nepal and Tibet.
Organized by the Royal Borough of Greenwich at Victoria Hall, Woolwich Town Hall, the ceremony was attended by local government representatives, Nepali community leaders and representatives of the Nepali Embassy in the UK.

Nepal’s Chargé d’affaires to the UK, Bipin Duwadi, expressed condolences to the victims and appreciation for the international community’s support for Nepal. He said the government was continuing rescue and relief efforts.
Greenwich Mayor Councillor David Gardner welcomed the participants, while ward councillors Jeet Ranabhat and Gaumaya Gurung Ranabhat introduced the guests.
Participants observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims. Pandits Chiranjivi Dhakal and Nihari Ghimire performed Swastivachan, while eight-year-old Shavani KC performed Kun Mandir Ma Janchhau Yatri on the harmonium.
