KATHMANDU, July 17: The government has requested China to help reconstruct the Miteri Bridge in Rasuwa, which was swept away by a flood last week.
Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal held discussions with Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, at Singha Durbar on Thursday regarding the reconstruction efforts. According to the minister's secretariat, the Chinese envoy assured that a temporary bridge would be built as soon as possible. “The Chinese side has committed to constructing a temporary bridge at the earliest,” stated Dahal’s secretariat.

The bridge, which connects Nepal and China, was destroyed by a flood in the Lhende River on July 8. The incident has led to the closure of one of Nepal’s key trade routes with China.
The flood also damaged the Syafrubesi-Rasuwagadhi road. The Department of Roads (DoR), under which the damaged road section falls, is preparing to reopen the track by Friday.
Secretary at the Ministry, Keshav Kumar Sharma, and Director General of the Department of Roads, Dr Bijay Kumar Jha, among others, were also present during the meeting between Minister Dahal and Ambassador Chen.
