Nepal trails all South Asian countries in new FIFA rankings

KATHMANDU, Jan 7: Nepal has suffered a significant setback in the FIFA World Rankings after plunging to the last spot among the South Asian nations.

As per the latest rankings published by FIFA – the world governing body of football – Nepal has slumped to 196th position. In the last month's ranking, Nepal was in the 192nd position while Sri Lanka had been in the tail end of the South Asian nations with 194th position.Sri Lanka has climbed the table after defeating Nepal 1-0 in the recently held SAFF Championship. Sri Lanka has now secured 188th position.

Afghanistan is in 153rd position after losing the SAFF Championship with India while the Maldives is in 157th position. India, which won the SAF Championship, is now placed 163rd after climbing three spot.

Bangladesh is in 179th position after climbing three spot while Pakistan is in 185th position. Bhutan is placed at 192nd position.

Meanwhile, 22 top spots of FIFA Rankings has remained the same as in the last month in which Belgium, Argentina, Spain, Germany, Chile, Brazil, Portugal, Colombia, Britain and Austria make the top 10 spot respectively. RSS
