KATHMANDU, Feb 5: Nepal recorded 1,714 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday along with 4,771 recoveries and nine deaths, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
As many as 8,513 swab samples (including RDT antigen data received through SMS & Email) were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 1,103 PCR and 611 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the deadly virus.

There are currently 53,080 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Among them, 51,434 are in self-isolation, 1,346 in institutional isolation, 251 in ICUs, and 49 on ventilators. Similarly, 131 people are currently in quarantine facilities. So far, 11,803 people have died of the viral infection across the country.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley alone recorded 463 cases of the virus on Saturday. Of them, 316 were recorded in Kathmandu, 43 in Bhaktapur, and 104 in Lalitpur districts.
