Nepal confirms 1,096 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, eight new deaths reported

KATHMANDU, April 18: Officials at the MInistry of Health and Population (MoHP) confirmed a total of 1,096 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the country on Sunday. Of the cases confirmed, 1,015 were detected through 5,084 RT-PCR tests while 81 others through 699 antigen tests.

KATHMANDU, April 18: Officials at the MInistry of Health and Population (MoHP) confirmed a total of 1,096 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the country on Sunday. Of the cases confirmed, 1,015 were detected through 5,084 RT-PCR tests while 81 others through 699 antigen tests. 


With this, Nepal’s COVID-19 case tally has spiked to 284,673 including 3,083 fatalities caused by the COVID-19 infection. Eight more death cases were added in the past 24 hours including four confirmed in the past 24 hours.

As many as 275,300 people have so far attained recovery from the COVID-19 infection which accounts for  96.7 percent of the total cases. 


Amid the unwillingness among the stakeholders concerned, a large number of students are being infected with COVID-19.  The ministry, on Sunday, confirmed 112 cases among those who are below 19 years of age.
