KATHMANDU, Aug 27: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has warned of the possibility of another flash flood in Lhende river, citing that the river has been blocked and a large lake has formed in the upper coastal area about 18 km from the Rasuwagadhi crossing.
Issuing a public notice, the NDRRMA has said that there is a risk of flooding due to bursting of the lake and the authority has appealed to be cautious in the lower coastal areas.

As per the NDRRMA, the preliminary study conducted based on the analysis of the satellite images of Planet Labs and Landsat received at 11:44 this morning. “It has been seen that a lake with an area of 0.11 square kilometers has been formed in that area.”
The NDRRMA states there is still a risk that the natural dam of the lake, which was created after the flow of the river was blocked, might burst. If the natural dam bursts, there is a possibility that there will be another major flood in the lower coastal areas, and the relevant agencies have been asked to be on high alert.
Keeping in view the possible risk, the NDRRMA has urged the residents of the lower coastal areas and all concerned to take necessary precautions and be on high alert.
