KATHMANDU, Dec 16: Two top leaders of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have reached a truce after the party’s Chairman and Prime Minister K P Oli agreed to withdraw the ordinance issued on Constitutional Council (CC) meeting.
During a meeting held between the two leaders at the official residence of Prime Minister Oli in Baluwatar on Wednesday, Chairman Oli agreed to withdraw the controversial ordinance issued on Wednesday after Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal agreed to withdraw his political paper from the party’s Standing Committee meeting. The two leaders have now agreed to present a joint political paper before the Standing Committee.
Earlier, Executive Chairman Dahal had presented a separate political paper making a number of allegations against Oli. Prime Minister Oli, however, had described Dahal’s paper merely an ‘allegation paper’ and insisted that he would not attend the meeting unless Dahal’s paper is withdrawn.

Prime Minister Oli on his part had also submitted a separate political paper, mainly to counter the allegations made by Dahal. With the agreement reached between the two leaders on Wednesday, Oli has also participated in the Standing Committee meeting that is currently underway in Baluwatar.
Sources said the two top leaders had reached an agreement to bury their hatchets at the initiatives of three Standing Committee members, namely Subash Nembang, Shanker Pokharel, and Ghanashyam Bhusal. General Secretary Bishnu Paudel also participated in the meeting held between the two chairmen of the party.
NCP sources said the Dahal faction has also agreed to stop the signature campaign made for summoning the House session. As many as 80 lawmakers close to the rival faction had submitted a memorandum to President Bidya Devi Bhandari to summon the House session at the earliest after Prime Minister Oli introduced the controversial ordinance related to the Constitutional Council meeting.
