CHITWAN, May 4: At a time when central leaders of Nepali Congress and CPN(Maoist Center) are reportedly talking about forging electoral alliance with each other, local leaders of the former have said they will contest the local level elections alone citing that Bharatpur is the stronghold of Nepali Congress.
NC leaders in Chitwan district have made it clear that the news that the heavyweights of the two parties are considering forging electoral alliance is a rumor.
" I want to make it clear that Nepali Congress has not decided to forge electoral alliance with any ruling party. If there are news about it, they are untrue. I refute it”, NC District president of Chitwan Jit Narayan Shrestha told Republica Online.
"We are going to win the election without the support of any other political party. Chitwan is our stronghold. There is no question of contesting the election by forging electoral alliance with other parties", said Ram Krishna Ghimire, former NC Chitwan district president and lawmaker representing Constituency 4 of Chitwan district.
