KATHMANDU, July 26: Lawmakers speaking at the Zero Hour Session under the Legislature-Parliament today demanded addressing the landless squatters' problems in Attariya Municipality, demarcating the size of the local bodies at 1,000 and providing the franchise to the Nepalese Diaspora in foreign countries.
KATHMANDU, July 26: The government is planning to stop transfers of local development officers (LDOs) in all 75 districts till mid-March next year upon the recommendation of the commission to determine and fix the number and boundaries of local bodies. The commission has said that the transfer of the LDOs will hamper its task.
Chairperson of the ‘Commission for the Determination of the Numbers and Boundaries of Village Bodies, Municipalities and Special, Protected or Autonomous Regions’ in federal Nepal, Balananda Paudel, says the commission is working day and night to submit its final report to the government at the earliest, so as to pave the way for local elections.
