Nepal Army soldiers beat up locals

UDAYAPUR, August 25: Locals from Triyuga Municipality, Bhulke were thrashed by some soldiers of the No. 18 Brigade of Nepal Army on Tuesday. Two women and a man were injured in the attack when they had gone to collect fodder for their livestock.

KATHMANDU: A group of looters clashed with locals at Roshi Rural Municipality in Kavre district on Thursday night, leaving four locals injured. The locals were guarding a Buddha Chitta tree–considered sacred by Buddhists. Buddha Chitta seeds are used as beads to make garlands, which have great value in foreign markets.

Katahariya Municipality has allocated Rs 90 million (over 45 percent), out of a total of Rs 200 million earmarked for capital spending, for road construction. Over-concentration on roads in budget allocations has undermined the other priorities.
