KATHMANDU, May 19: Nepali Congress candidate Chiribabu Maharjan continued his lead in the vote count of Lalitpur Metropolitan City mayoral post.


Maharjan has garnered 11731 votes so fare while his nearest rival CPN-UML candidate Hari Krishna Byanjankar is at 10366.

Sajha Party's candidate Ramesh Maharjan has received 6893 votes so far while CPN (Maoist Center) candidate Dinesh Maharjan has accumulated only 2484 votes after the completion of vote count in 12 wards of the metropolis.


In the contest of deputy-mayor, Geeta Satyal of NC is leading with 8789 votes while Sajha Party candidate Shova Shakya has received 7419 votes. Despite having election coalition with CPN-UML, Rastriya Prajatantra Party's candidate Babu Kaji Pradhan has only 3930 votes.


Lalitpur voters have ignored the coalition between UML and RPP and have cast 6747 votes to UML's election symbol 'sun' though the party had not fielded any candidate to the post.
