KATHMANDU, April 11: Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Dipak Gururng has maintained a narrow lead over his rival Krishna Bahadur Gurung of Unified CPN (Maoist) in Kaski-1 Constituent Assembly (CA) by-elections held Friday. The NC candidate has received 9,110 votes while Maoist candidate has received 9,106 votes. Shaligram Poudel of CPN-UML has got 8,536 votes, said our correspondent Manoj Adhikari.
Of the total 92,528 votes, 41,725 votes were cast in the constituency. This is 45.09 percent turnout, down from 55 percent during the CA election held last year.
Meanwhile, in Dhanusha-5, Tarai Madesh Democratic Party (TMDP) candidate is leading Raghubir Mahaseth of CPN-UML. TMDP candidate got 10,077 votes while his nearest rival Mahaseth received 9,529 votes. Nepali Congress and Unified CPN (Maoist) candidates have got 5,181 and 1,348 votes respectively while Madhesi People´s Rights Forum candidate has got only 552 votes, according to our correspondent Suresh Yadav.
Earlier, Mahaseth was leading the counting.
