NC to take initiative to form a new government under its own leadership.
KATHMANDU, April 3: The main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC), has sought resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Come with fixed agendas, govt will address your demands: PM Oli...
A central committee meeting of the party held at party headquarters at Sanepa late on Friday evening decided to take initiative to form a new government under its leadership.
“PM Oli now does not hold moral ground to lead the government. He should step down from the post of PM and pave the way for the formation of a new government,” said NC spokesperson Biswaprakash Sharma.
The meeting also decided to form a new government under the leadership of NC, said Pradip Poudel, a central committee member of the party. “Following the Supreme Court’s decision to restore the dissolved House of Representatives (HoR), PM Oli should have paved the way for the formation of a new government,” he added.
The NC decision to seek resignation of PM Oli comes following a series of meetings and discussions held between NC and CPN- Maoist center. NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba was reluctant to take initiatives to form a new government since the CPN (Maoist Center) had not withdrawn its support to the government.
