Over 2,000 motorists fined for violating traffic rules in 24 hours

KATHMANDU, July 8: Traffic police fined 2,076 motorists for violating traffic rules in the Kathmandu Valley over the past 24 hours.



According to Superintendent of Police Naresh Prasad Subedi, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, 68 motorists were fined for drunk driving, 129 for illegally sharing rides, 126 for running red lights, and 189 for speeding.

Likewise, 139 motorists were penalized for violating lane discipline, 124 for unnecessary honking in prohibited areas, and 85 for parking on pavements or in no-parking zones.


Similarly, action was taken against 59 drivers and riders for violating one-way traffic rules, while 1,157 were booked for other traffic violations.


Traffic police collected Rs 1.97 million in revenue from the fines.
