KATHMANDU, Feb 24: Bibeksheel Sajha Party has demanded resignation of President Bidya Bhandari and Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli on moral grounds after the apex court revoked the decision of Prime Minister Oli to dissolve the House of Representatives (HoR).
Issuing a statement, the party stated that Prime Minister Oli should now pave the way for the formation of a new government by the parliamentarians without any kind of unnecessary manipulation. The party also said that President Bidya Devi Bhandari, who has been supporting every unconstitutional step of the Prime Minister Oli like a rubber stamp, should also step down immediately for failing to fulfill her constitutional responsibility to act as a custodian of the constitution.
The party has warned that it will call on all the parties and parliamentarians in the parliament to remove Bhandari by impeachment on the charge of continuously tarnishing the image of the presidency and the institution if she did not step down on her own.

Meanwhile, the party welcomed the historic decision of the Supreme Court to overturn the move of the Prime Minister Oli to dissolve the House of Representatives. It stated that the decision of the esteemed court has foiled the attack made against the constitution and laws of the land based on the arrogance and whims of a person in power.
“The ugly desire to run the country in a totalitarian manner has come to an end. The court's move has protected the constitution, restored the rule of law and saved the country from serious accidents,” read the statement. “At the same time, an important message has been conveyed that our court is free to make independent decisions without any undue pressure and influence.”
