Altogether 17 CWC members spoke during the CWC meeting on Friday. Those putting forth their views on the current political situation included Khum Bahadur Khadka, Gopal Man Shrestha, Dip Kumar Upadhyaya, Chandra Bhandari, Shankar Bhandari, N P Saud, Ajaya Kumar Chaurasiya, Ram Kumar Chaudhari, Pushpa Bhusal, Manmohan Bhattarai, Dr Ram Sharan Mahat and Krishna Sitaula.
Most of those speaking during the meeting argued that the NC should continue with its prime ministerial candidacy until there is a package agreement with the Maoists.
They complained that the Maoists had failed to abide by the agreement reached with the government including on disbanding the paramilitary structure of their Young Communist League, returning all property seized during the conflict and army integration and rehabilitation.
The CWC members also stressed the need to keep the party unity intact and asked the party leadership not to act in any way that could affect unity and harmony in the party.
During the meeting, CWC member Chaurasiya demanded action against those involved in hurling shoes at Indian ambassador Rakesh Sood in Solukhumbu.
“This is an attack against democracy. The Maoists take India as their hurdle,” a CWC leader quoted him as saying. “The guilty behind the attack must be punished.”
