KATHMANDU, Nov 20: Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has announced additional programs to continue their protests outside the Supreme Court to mount pressure on Chief Justice (CJ) Cholendra SJB Rana to resign from his post, accusing him of being involved in a ‘give and take’ with political parties for personal gain.
The agitating lawyers have been demanding the resignation of CJ Rana since October 24 and have boycotted all the cases scheduled in the Supreme Court except for the cases related to habeas corpus.

The NBA has also urged lawyers across the country not to look into any of the cases scheduled at courts except for the ones related to habeas corpus, stating that the chief justice had misused his powers to silence the protests by using force and violence. Earlier, a number of lawyers were injured in a scuffle with security forces on Sunday.
Prior to the announcement, the NBA had urged lawyers to protest across the country by wearing a black ribbon around their arms from 10AM to 12PM. A meeting of lawyers affiliated with the association on Friday decided to add various programs to intensify the protest.
