National Education Day: Govt announces medals and awards for best campuses and schools

KATHMANDU, Sept 18: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) has announced this year’s recipients of the ‘Bidya Bhushan’, ‘Prabidhi Bidya Bhushan’ and ‘Chhatrapadak’ awards and the names of the best campuses and schools on the occasion of National Education Day. The selection of medals and awards was made at a ministerial meeting held on September 17.

The ministry said that although the announcement of the awards and medals has been made, the distribution of these awards and medals has not been finalized due to financial constraints.

Shree Jana Bhawana Campus in Chapagaun, Lalitpur, of community category under Tribhuvan University (TU) and Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences in Soltimod, Kathmandu of private category under TU have been recognized as the top institutions this year.

Likewise, Kaski’s School of Business has been selected as the best in the affiliated campuses under Pokhara University.  The MoEST will award a prize of Rs 250,000 to each of the three top-performing campuses.

In terms of schools, Shree Secondary School Tulsipur Center, Tulsipur, Dang, under the community category and Fluorescent Secondary school in Kathmandu, Tokha, under the private category have received the National Education Award for excellence.

According to the MoEST, Shree Secondary School,Tulsipur Center in Dang, Tulsipur, has been declared as the best public-school based on the results achieved in the Secondary Education Examination (SEE), 2024 among the public schools across the country. The school will receive a cash prize of Rs 300,000.

Vishwa Niketan Secondary School, Kathmandu, has been announced as the second-best school based on the SEE results, receiving an award of Rs 200,000. Meanwhile, Janakalyan Secondary School from Dang secured the third position, receiving an award of Rs 100,000.
