KATHMANDU, Sept 19: The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport (MoPIT) to open advance ticket bookings for Dashain from September 26.
The DoTM submitted the proposal in the first phase of discussions about advance bus tickets, which included transport entrepreneurs, police, and the Department of Roads and other stakeholders. The discussions were held at the ministry on Wednesday.

Uddhav Prasad Rijal, the director general of the DoTM, said that they have made a proposal to open advance bus tickets from September 26. The DoTM reported that only the next meeting will decide on the advance bus ticket.
According to Rijal, there was a discussion yesterday regarding the condition of the roads. Representatives from all sections of the road department were present. Rijal said that if road repairs are not completed on time, entrepreneurs have stated that they will not allow advance tickets for buses.
Similarly, Bijay Swar, the president of the National Federation of Nepalese Transport Entrepreneurs, also said that another meeting will be held to open advance ticket bookings. He added that yesterday’s discussion focused on the entrepreneur’s demands and road conditions. Swar said that they will not open advance bus tickets until the road conditions improve.
According to Swar, it is planned to open advance bus tickets a week before Ghatasthapana this year as usual. Therefore, they have urged the government to emphasize on road maintenance, he added.
