National Assembly Election: Voting concludes in Province 1

BIRATNAGAR, Jan 26: Voting held to elect National Assembly members has completed in Province 1. According to Election Officer Bharat Lamsal, 270 out of 272 local level members and 91 out of 92 province assembly members cast their votes in the election held from 9AM to 3PM on Wednesday.

BIRATNAGAR, Jan 26: Voting held to elect National Assembly members has completed in Province 1. According to Election Officer Bharat Lamsal, 270 out of 272 local level members and 91 out of 92 province assembly members cast their votes in the election held from 9AM to 3PM on Wednesday.


For the National Assembly election, there are a total of 364 voters in Province 1, including local level chiefs, deputy chiefs and members of the Provincial Assembly. Voting was arranged in the premises of the Provincial Election Office and Crop Protection Laboratory office at Biratnagar in Province 1. There are eight candidates for three posts in Province 1.

Gopal Basnet of the Nepali Congress (NC), Jayanti Rai of the CPN (Unified Socialists) and Hemraj Thulung Rai of the Janata Samajwadi have registered their candidacies on behalf of the ruling coalition. Similarly, Guru Prasad Baral, Sumitra Bhandari and Sonam Galgen Sherpa have registered their candidacies from UML. 


Likewise, Amar Bista and Ranju Pyakurel of Jhapa have registered their candidacies on behalf of RPP.


The Election Office is preparing to start counting of votes as soon as the polling is over.
