HETAUDA, Jan 25: All necessary preparations for the National Assembly election have been completed at the voting center in Hetauda. Voting is taking place from 9AM to 3PM tomorrow in the election being held for 19 posts falling vacant from March 4, 2021 in the National Assembly, the upper house of the Federal Parliament, the Election Commission (EC) said.
The EC has fixed eight voting centers and 14 polling booths for this purpose. It said it has already sent the ballot papers to the Office of the Returning Officer in all the provinces on January 21 itself.

The province assembly members and the mayors/chairpersons and deputy mayors/ deputy chairpersons of the local governments are the voters in this election.
The five parties in the ruling coalition have forged an alliance in the National Assembly election while the major opposition party, CPN-UML, has fielded its candidates alone.
The EC said the health safety protocols would be strictly adhered to at the voting centers and booths in view of the high risk of coronavirus infection. It has already issued a list of health safety protocols to be followed in the election before this.
