Musical rendezvous with Babbar

KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Satish Babbar, not a new name for the Ghazal enthusiasts, has been performing for the last 37 years. Captivating the world with his soulful and unique style of singing, Babbar has won plethora of awards, which include Best Ghazal Singer for the year 1982-83, India’s National Award in the year 1994 and Beghum Akhtar Award to name few.[break]



Apart from Ghazals, which is his forte, Babbar has also been extensively involved in singing, directing and producing classical music, film songs, ballets, bhajans and has also acted in few films and TV Serials.



The maestro who was inducted in “The Contemporary Who’s Who” by the American Biographical Institute in 2004, will be hitting the stage courtesy Embassy of India, on the occasion of 62nd Republic Day of India. Accompanying Babbar will be his daughter Vani Babbar. The father and daughter duo will be entertaining at an exclusive, invitation-only, event at Army Officers’ Club Auditorium, Wednesday, January 25.



Appreciated world over, the duo is planning on laying out a variety of genres, including traditional Taranas, Classical Tappe, Ghazals, Geets, Punjabi, Sufiana Qalaam and Duets.
