KATHMANDU, Aug 25: Ruling and opposition party lawmakers on Sunday urged the government to control the 'unwanted activities' of former King Gyanendra Shah and his son Paras.
Speaking at the House of Representatives, ruling Nepal Communist Party lawmaker Balaram Baskota drew the attention of the government towards activities of the former royals.

Making a reference to the attack on the on-duty policeman by the former crown prince Paras at the Tribhuwan International Airport last week, Baskota questioned, "Has the government noticed such unwarranted activities of the former royals? It is the duty of the government to brief the matter at the parliament."
He said that the government should keep a vigil on the activities of the former royals. "The former royals should strictly follow the existing constitution," he said.
Baskota said that the monarchy cannot be reinstated in the country. He also criticized the former prime ministers for holding meetings with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar at a hotel in Kathmandu recently. "Such meeting is a serious violation of protocol and diplomatic code of conduct," he said. Baskota urged the government to make the position public on the Kashmir issue.
Ramesh Jung Rayamajhi, a lawmaker of the main opposition Nepali Congress said that the former king is taking the undue advantage from the messy politics of the country. "Main political parties are to be blamed for the same," he said.
