According to Ajammar Kangmang, deputy general secretary of the FSPN, at least a 150-member central committee would be formed after the unification, while the politburo would have 50 members. As per the unification deal, MPRF-N leader Upendra Yadav would be the chairman of the unified party while FSPN Chairman Ashok Rai would be senior leader of the party and lead the parliamentary party.
The unified party would carry the flag of FSPN while the election symbol of the party would be a burning torch, the current election symbol of MPRF-N.
As per the unification deal, there will be five vice chairmen in the unified party, two each from FSPN and MPRF-N as well as one from KINP. There will be two general secretaries, two deputy general secretaries and two co-chairmen, with the positions to be shared equally among FSPN and MPRF-N leaders. Likewise, the unified party will have three secretaries, one each from the three unifying parties.
"FSPN had been discussing with several parties with similar political agendas and ideology for unification. After the 16-point agreement between the four major parties, it became necessary for the political forces fighting for identity-based federalism to unite," said Kangbang.
According to MPRF-N leader Ratneshwar Lal Kayastha, the unified party would carry forward the ideology of socialist democracy.
"The two parties were established for taking forward the same agenda and ideology. Though MPRF-N got established from the movement in Madhes, it has always been lobbying for identity-based federalism and inclusion. All these facts brought us closer for the unification," said Kayastha.
"As UCPN (Maoist) has shunned the agendas of identity-based federalism and inclusion, the unified party will push for establishing those agendas," said Kayastha.
