According to DSP Narayan Prasad Chimariya, 165 homes belonging to 72 families have turned into ashes. "As per our preliminary investigation, properties worth Rs 50 million has been destroyed in the incident," Chimariya said.Fire brigades, along with police and locals, worked together to bring the fire situation under control. It took nearly three hours to douse the fire.
"I was working in a field when I noticed thick smoke in the sky," said Chhutharu Yadav, a local. "When I reached home, my house and belongings were completely burnt," he lamented.
Chief District Officer Birendra Yadav, who had also reached the site with the police team, stated that he has been working to arrange food and shelter for victims. "We are doing our best to ease the situation for them," he said.
According to the CDO, most people were working in fields when the fire began to spread. "As majority of the people here depend on agriculture and work in fields, they were not at home at the time. So they could not save their properties."
He informed that there was no human causality in the incident.
