MORANG, Aug 9: A massive fire that broke out at a plastic industry in Biratnagar Metropolitan City-1 on Wednesday morning gutted properties worth Rs 30 million. According to the District Police Office, Morang, the fire broke out in the plastic industry located in Biratnagar Metropolitan City-14 at around 1AM.
According to Morang Police Chief Superintendent of Police (SP) Deepak Pokharel, the fire broke out at Suyash Pyakurel's MM Plastic Industry on Wednesday morning. He said that the initial investigation revealed that the fire began due to a short circuit in the inverter's battery.
Fire guts properties worth Rs 1.3 million in Banepa
SP Pokharel informed Republica that the fire broke out in the "UPS room" on the ground floor of the industry, which is manufacturing various types of materials including plastic bottles and cans.
The fire engulfed two UPS, 200 batteries, ACs, inverters, cables etc and were inoperable, informed the industrialist Pyakurel. The industrial building was partially damaged.
Pyakurel said that when the battery exploded, the fire caused a loss of around Rs 30 million and the fire did not damage the raw materials and finished goods of the industry.
The fire was brought under control after two hours with the help of two fire engines of Biratnagar Metropolitan City and Nepal Police. The police said that further investigation of the incident is underway.
