KATHMANDU, Nov 10: The Standing Committee meeting of the CPN (Maoist Center) has decided to advance the American aid project, Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), with amendments on the basis of national consensus.

“Whatever has been made public in regard to the MCC, our party is of the view to not advance the American aid project without forging national consensus and amending some provisions of the contract,” CPN (Maoist Centre) Spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara told mediapersons after the meeting.

The meeting held at party headquarters Parisdanda on Tuesday also finalized names of its leaders to be represented in the five-party coordination committee. Party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal and leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha will join the committee.

Likewise, the Standing Committee meeting decided to hold its national convention in Kathmandu on December 26-28. As part of the preparation of the conference, the party has intensified its drive to expand the party’s organization.
