KATHMANDU, Oct 25: The International Coordination Council (ICC) of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) is all set to host its annual general meeting and global conclave in Kathmandu on Sunday and Monday.
According to the NRNA, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will inaugurate the conclave on the theme "Transformation and Unity: Labor, Investment, and Continuity of Citizenship."

During a press conference in Kathmandu on Friday, NRNA announced that the program will feature seven plenary sessions. The first day will see participation from over 500 attendees, including government ministers and high-ranking officials. Topics will include infrastructure development for economic transformation in Nepal, non-resident Nepali citizenship, voting rights for Gurkhas and people of Nepali origin (PNO), the impact of climate change on women and children, and creating a prosperous Nepal. ICC Secretary General Gauri Raj Joshi said that there will be in-depth discussions on science, knowledge, and technology transfer.
On the second day (Monday), the sessions will focus on empowering migrant youth for nation-building, ensuring safe, orderly, and dignified foreign employment and social security, and promoting Nepal tourism, including policy-making, expectations, and the role of NRNA.
The program aims to foster cooperation with local and provincial governments. The general secretary believes the event will bring together non-resident Nepalis from around the world, high-ranking officials of the Government of Nepal, policy experts, and representatives from governmental and non-governmental organizations, providing a platform for meaningful discussions.
Joshi mentioned plans to discuss setting up the NRN Development Fund, which will have an investment of Rs 10 billion. He expressed hope that it will support long-term projects contributing to Nepal’s economic and social development. The global conclave is seen as a way to strengthen the connection between non-resident Nepalis and Nepal.
In the press conference, General Secretary Joshi said that representatives from over 60 countries will participate, both in person and virtually, during the AGM and conclave. He noted that many representatives of the Non-Resident Nepali Association have already arrived in Kathmandu for the AGM.
