KATHMANDU, May 21: CPN (Maoist Center) lawmaker Kalpana Miya Kusari threw a microphone at Kiran Kumar Shah, Chairperson of the Women and Social Affairs Committee, during a tense committee meeting on Wednesday.
According to Chairperson Shah, MP Kusari arrived late to the meeting and began speaking out of turn. When Shah intervened and asked her to wait, she reportedly became agitated and threw a microphone at him. She also attempted to strike him with her nameplate. However, neither object hit Shah.

“She struck, targeting me, but it didn’t reach me—it went in the direction of other MPs,” Shah said.
MP Kusari admitted to the incident, saying, “I did strike, but it didn’t hit.” She added that either she or Chairperson Shah would have to leave the committee.
The incident has drawn criticism on social media, with users expressing concern over a decline in parliamentary decorum and increasing intolerance among lawmakers.
