KATHMANDU, Oct 18: CPN (Maoist Centre) coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal has dismissed CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli’s recent demand to restore the House of Representatives (HoR), calling it “ridiculous.”
Speaking at a tea reception organized by the All Nepal Trade Union Federation at the party office in Parisdanda on Saturday, Dahal said it was absurd for someone who had repeatedly dissolved parliament to now call for its reinstatement. “There is nothing more ridiculous than those who repeatedly dissolved the parliament and are now talking about restoring it,” he said.

Dahal urged the UML and other political forces to “accept the current reality” and focus on ensuring the success of the upcoming elections scheduled by the government. “I would like to urge those friends not to follow such a path but to work together to make the election successful,” he said.
Warning that failure to hold polls on the announced date could trigger another wave of political instability, Dahal emphasized that timely elections were crucial for safeguarding the constitution and democracy. “Let’s accept this reality today and work together in a big way,” he said, adding, “This is the best option for the protection of the country, the constitution, and democracy at this time. Let no one try to provoke or derail it.”
His comments come in response to Oli’s recent remarks demanding the restoration of the dissolved House of Representatives and describing the current government as a “regression.”
