KATHMANDU, August 23: The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Nepal, Hanna Singer-Hamdy, paid a courtesy call on President Ramchandra Paudel at the latter’s Office in Sheetal Niwas on Wednesday.
During the meeting, President Paudel expressed his gratitude for the support of the United Nations in helping Nepal achieve development, prosperity, and the sustainable development goals, according to a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Office of the President, Shailaja Regmi Bhattarai.

President Paudel and the UN Resident Coordinator Singer discussed the long-standing history of collaboration, the Peacekeeping Operations, and the road ahead to meet the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
In addition, they also discussed Nepal's leadership in LDC Graduation; progress on SDGs and the need to accelerate it, and the UN’s five-year plan to support the Government of Nepal in inclusive economic growth, social development, disaster risk reduction, and climate change adaptation.
The UN Resident Coordinator, Singer, also highlighted the upcoming SDGs summit and the Education Summit in September in New York, and the potential for Nepal to offer a model of how education can help consolidate a peace process.
The UN Resident Coordinator reiterated UN's commitment to collaborate with the government to strengthen Nepal's social sector, the importance of building resilient communities to better prepare for a crisis, and improve coordination among all stakeholders, according to the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Nepal.
