KATHMANDU, Jan 5: CPN-UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet has received a sole endorsement to contest the upcoming House of Representatives elections from Bhaktapur Constituency-2, scheduled for March 5.
The Constituency Coordination Committee unanimously recommended Basnet to the district committee as the candidate for first-past-the-post elections.

Earlier, other aspirants, Rajendra Rajthala and Anil Shrestha, withdrew their candidacies, and Basnet expressed gratitude for their decision.
Basnet was elected from the same constituency in 2017 and served as Minister of Industry, but he lost in 2022.
