Machhindra held by Mohun Bagan

KATHMANDU, July 22:NMB Machhindra Club was held to a 1-1 draw by the academy team of I-League side Mohun Bagan on Monday in the King´s Cup Football Tournament being held in Bhutan. National champion Three Star Club had also played a 1-1 draw with Sikkim United on Sunday.



Machhindra took an early lead through skipper Karna Limbu in the second minute but failed to hold on to it for long as Mohun Bagan leveled the score three minutes later. Machhindra arrived in Thimphu on Sunday midnight via Kakarbhitta, Jhapa. African players Olawala O Afeez and Adewale Jacob had featured for Machhindra. [break]



Forward Afeez had faced a one-year ban in the A division league last year. Machhindra will take on Brothers Union of Bangladesh on Friday in its next group match.

Another Nepali top-tier team Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC) will play against Yeedzin FC, the league champion of Bhutan, on Wednesday.
