Lumbini World Peace Forum and NIMB Bank accelerate plantation drive across provinces as Part of ‘One Account, One Tree’ initiative

KATHMANDU, December 10: In a significant stride towards environmental sustainability, Lumbini World Peace Forum, in collaboration with Nepal Investment Mega Bank, has intensified its ‘One Account, One Tree’ plantation drive across Karnali Province, Far-West Province, and Lumbini Province.


According to a statement issued by the Lumbini World Peace Forum, as part of the ongoing commitment to environmental conservation, the ‘One Account, One Tree’ initiative is designed to plant a tree for every new Green Future Savings Account opened with NIMB Bank. The recent plantation drive spanned various locations, creating a positive impact on communities and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility. During the recent ‘One Account, One Tree’ plantation drive across provinces, notable campaign highlights include the event in Birendranagar Municipality, Surkhet, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local community and leaders of ‘Ram Janaki Samudayik Ban’ in Ward Number 5.

The success of the tree plantation event was attributed to the collaborative efforts between NIMB Bank staff and community leaders. In Shuklaphanta Municipality, Kanchanpur, the presence of NIMB Bank staff from the Mahendranagar branch was complemented by distinguished guests, including Mayor Rana Bahadur Mahara and ward chairs, who emphasized the vital role of community involvement. The plantation event in Banganga Municipality, Kapilvastu, held at Kailash Ashram Tatha Manakamana Dharmik Ban, Durga Mandir, saw active participation from from NIMB Bank, Lumbini province unit. Buddhiram Ghimire, Chairman of the Dharmik Ban, and community members, including the unit team of the Armed Police Force from Jeetpur Barrack, were instrumental in the success of the plantation drive, as mentioned in the statement.


During the recent ‘One Account, One Tree’ plantation drive across provinces, a total of 481 lemon, moringa, and jamun (java plum) trees were successfully planted in Birendranagar Municipality, Surkhet, Shuklaphanta Municipality, Kanchanpur, and Banganga Municipality, Kapilvastu. These plantations were carried out in alignment with the accounts opened at Nepal Investment Bank Limited (NIMB), as part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.


The statement further reads, “This initiative not only emphasizes NIMB’s  commitment to environmental sustainability but also contributes significantly to the bank’s broader social impact. Lumbini World Peace Forum is currently spearheading the project as part of its ‘1 Million Plantation and Conservation Campaign’; an ambitious endeavor aimed at planting and conserving one million trees across Nepal.”
