BARA, Feb 18: The locals of Rampurwa in Kolhabi Municipality-9 of Bara district picketed the District Administration Office (DAO) on Sunday demanding action against the land mafia who are selling public land to the general public.

Prakash Chaudhary, who led the protest, alleged that individuals named Pradeep Kharel and Yubraj Mainali are selling public land measuring 2 bigha 12 kattha in plot number 16 of former Rampurwa-2, Kolhabi Municipality-9 illegally.

Chaudhary informed Republica that despite informing the DAO about the illegal sale of public land by Kharel and Mainali eight months ago, the government did not take any action. Consequently, the enraged locals surrounded the DAO.

During the DAO's encirclement, there was a confrontation between security personnel and the protesters. Chaudhary also demanded action against those involved in the privatization of public lands, including 7 bigha 15 kattha in plot number 206 of Rampurwa-1 and 31 bigha 16 kattha in plot number 41 of Rampurwa-2.
