BARA, May 21: The Birgunj-Pathlaiya six-lane trade route project, which was to be completed within two years' time, still awaits completion three years after its commencement. Only 50 percent of the construction work has been completed so far.
BARA, April 15: Construction of the Postal Highway, which connects 20 districts of the Tarai belt, has failed to gain much momentum due to delays in land acquisition. The two-lane road has suffered delay at many blocks including Manmat – Kalaiya – Matiarwa. According to concerned officials, locals are not cooperating in the land acquisition process.
BARA, April 12: The menacing tornado of last Sunday wrecked hundreds of houses in Bara and Parsa districts compelling many households to live under the open sky on empty stomachs. After crying over their loss for days, the victims have now started repairing their houses by clearing up the debris.

As they cannot keep their cattle outside due to the torrential rainfall, the victims of the-ever recorded tornado in Nepal are obliged to sleep with their cattle.
BARA, April 8: Ijhar Miya of Puranaiya village laments his inability to build a strong house like that of his neighbor. He says that he was destitute in the past and is still so. “I was never capable of building a strong house. As such my neighbor’s home resisted the storm, mine did not,” he said.

BARA, Jan13: The District Police Office (DPO), Bara, has launched a probe into the complaints filed against Ram Bahadur Bomjon, a self-proclaimed spiritual leader, and his followers on the charge of disappearing some of his followers and attacking locals. The police move follows complaints registered at the DPO accusing Bomjon, popularly known as Buddha Boy, of arbitrarily attacking the locals and disappearing one of his followers from the district.

BARA, Dec 26: Ajay Mandal, 12, a seventh-grader at Namuna Lower Secondary School (NLSS) of Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City-1 died mysteriously on Monday. Jitendra Mandal, the uncle of the deceased, has accused Soni Lal Yadav, a teacher of Nepali at NLSS, of beating his nephew to death.
