ROLPA, Jan 20: As the number of conflict victims, dropouts and child laborers has increased in Rolpa, the number of students is decreasing in schools. Considering this, a child protection committee has been formed in each ward of Triveni Rural Municipality of the district.

These committees have been formed as per the directive of the government for ensuring the rights and safety of children. In coordination with Save the Children and HURAC, Rolpa, Triveni Rural Municipality is collecting the details of underprivileged children below 18 years of age. The details will later be provided to the child protection committees which will offer help to such children.

The children from conflict victims' families, homeless, HIV/AIDS infected, disabled, missing, and child laborers, those without parents, malnourished, victims of sexual harassment, human trafficking, domestic violence, and child marriage, destitute among others will be included in the list of underprivileged children.

The child protection and coordination committees will be conducting awareness programs in the villages regarding the rights and privileges of children. They will also form policies and plans for the benefits of children.
