KATHMANDU, March 5: Adding 25 local units on what the commission formed to fix the number of local units had proposed, the Ministry of Local Development has taken a proposal of forming 744 local units under the federal set-up to the cabinet meeting undergoing now at Singh Durbar.
According to a source, the ministry has proposed to increase 21 local units in the eight districts of Province 2 while to increase two local units in Kathmandu and one each in Manang and Bajhang.
"Minister for Local Development Hitaraj Pandey is attending the cabinet meeting now with the proposal. The proposal is based on the report," informed the source.
Earlier, the local level restructuring commission had recommended the government to fix the numbers of local units at 719.
