KATHMANDU, Oct 14: A person has been charged with the murder of a 14-year-old girl in Pokhara, Dadeldhura, on Sunday.
Tek Bahadur Bhandari, a local stationery trader, was made public at a press conference organized by the District Police Office in Dadeldhura on Sunday. He was arrested in connection with the murder of 14-year-old Aarti Bhattarai, who was found dead in the Pokhara market of Dadeldhura on Saturday.
Bhattarai, who hails from Amargadhi Municipality-7, was murdered. According to DSP Sugandha Shrestha, the chief of the Dadeldhura police, Bhandari has already confessed to killing Bhattarai.

"The incident took place in Tek Bahadur Bhandari's stationery shop," DSP Shrestha said. "Bhandari has confessed that he strangled Bhattarai in a room inside the shop in a fit of rage," DSP Shrestha mentioned.
Locals have claimed that the girl was raped before being murdered and have demanded strict action. Police have stated that the report on the minor's body has not yet come in and they cannot comment on the matter at this time.
"We suspect that the individual may have acted out of impulse after the girl defied his attempts to rape her. However, we do not have confirmed information yet," he said.
Bhattarai had gone to the market near her home to buy rice at around 4 PM on October 11. It is reported that during a conversation in the shop, Bhandari, who became agitated, killed the girl inside the shop.
