Dr Niraj Kumar Singh, coordinator of the Struggle Committee, said they were forced to stage the sit-in protest because the construction work had not started despite the tender process being completed long ago.

He added that despite years of continuous efforts, they have been unable to build Narayani Hospital’s new facility. Meanwhile, other central hospitals in Nepal have already constructed and begun operating 500-bed facilities.

Singh said they staged a peaceful sit-in protest at 11 AM today on the premises of Narayani Hospital, Birgunj, to demand the construction of a new 500-bed building.
