KATHMANDU, Sept 10: Life in Jhapa and Dhangadhi is returning to normalcy following the violence that erupted in the course of the Gen Z demonstrations on Monday and Tuesday.
In Jhapa, a district in Koshi Province, with the deployment of security forces including the Nepali Army to maintain peace and security from Tuesday night, life in the area has started to return to normal from today.
Chief District Officer Gopal Kumar Adhikari said that as the security patrols have been intensified by the Nepali Army's security forces deployed from Aridaman Battalion Chaarali, daily life in Jhapa is becoming normal.

The chief district officer stated that the security patrols of the Nepali Army in the main places of the district, including the district headquarters Chandragadhi, are sending back those people who are wandering unnecessarily. He said that those involved in emergency services have been given permission to move around based on inquiries and identification.
On Tuesday, the normal life here became tense after protesters vandalized and set fire to more than a dozen government offices in Jhapa, including the offices of political parties and the homes of political leaders.
Similarly in Dhangadhi, a city in the Sudurpaschim province, the tense situation arisen in the aftermath of the Gen Z demonstration, is starting to return to normal. After the deployment of the Nepali Army to maintain peace and security, life is gradually becoming calm. The Army has increased its patrolling in Dhangadhi and surrounding areas.
Various shops have started to open in the market area. Private transportation vehicles have started operating on the roads.
Most of the government offices in Dhangadhi, the temporary capital of the Sudurpaschim Province, were set on fire and vandalized. The District Administration Office, the District Court, and the Chief Minister and Council of Minister’s office were vandalized and set on fire. In some offices, the fire could be seen until this morning. Defying the curfew imposed by the local administration, the protesters engaged in arson and vandalism.
Meanwhile, the prohibitory orders issued by the District Administration Office for Dhangadhi are still in force.
