Birgunj crawls back to normalcy

The situation in Birgunj is returning to normalcy with efforts being made by the local administration, political parties and the civil society groups to maintain social and communal harmony.

PARSA, April 17: Tensions between the two communities during the Hanuman Jayanti procession in Birgunj Metropolitan Area have gradually started to subside over the past couple of days. 


The situation in Birgunj is returning to normalcy with efforts being made by the local administration, political parties and the civil society groups to maintain social and communal harmony.

In Wednesday's all-party meeting, people from different sectors, chairpersons of all 32 wards of Birgunj Metropolitan City, religious organizations, Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the civil society actors were requested to exercise restraint and maintain social harmony in Birgunj.


Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal said the situation in Birgunj is returning to normalcy due to the support and goodwill from all sides. 


Stating that efforts were underway to bring Birgunj back to the pre-April 12 situation, he said the ban on rallies and demonstrations would be lifted soon.
