KATHMANDU, Oct 29: A bitter brawl broke out between two legal practitioners on the premises of the Supreme Court on Friday afternoon.
The scuffle broke out between advocates duo Bhuminanda Chudal and Birat Neupane as they engaged in a heated debate over the ongoing protests staged by justices at the Supreme Court.

Advocate Chudal, who had arrived at the Supreme Court to plead a case of his client, claimed that he was assaulted after a dispute over whether the judiciary was affected or not grew between them. “I was assaulted for speaking against the court to the media,” Chudal said.
Writ petitions, which were scheduled for hearing on Friday at the Supreme Court, had to be deferred for a later date after the protests of justices and legal practitioners. The justices of the Supreme Court and Nepal Bar Association have been holding protests, demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana.
Chief Justice Rana has been accused of seeking his ‘share’ in the government through political give-and-take. Activists have alleged that Chief Justice Rana had eroded the people’s trust in the judiciary.
