KATHMANDU, July 10: Legal practitioners have staged a protest against the decision of the court officials to prohibit them from parking their vehicles inside the Kathmandu District Court.
Lawyers, who came for special work and clients were not allowed to park inside the Kathmandu District Court complex in Babarmahal. The agitating legal professionals also submitted a memorandum to the court administration to arrange parking for the general public.
Bill to regulate legal practitioners introduced in parliament
Talking to the media, Advocate Yagya Mani Neupane said that the court did not allow parking inside even when the Kathmandu Metropolitan City has not allowed them to park their vehicles on the street. They argued that the court’s decision had created inconvenience to the general public.
Neupane said that a canteen is being operated in the parking lot and the canteen should be removed and parking should be allowed. He also mentioned that the court has done illegal work by constructing a building without design approval.
Another advocate said that the court did not listen to their repeated requests to open the parking lot inside the court premises. He said that the parking lot is being used by the canteen at the moment.
President of Nepal Bar Association, Kathmandu District Court Chapter, Ram Chandra Paudel said that the parking facility for legal practitioners has been arranged at Gate No 4 of the District Court. He mentioned that the underground parking will also open soon. He clarified that there is a discussion between the court and NBA to solve the problem.
