DARCHULA, Aug 28: The Gokuleshwar-Khalanga road section of the Mahakali Highway has been blocked due to dry landslides that occurred along the road at Dhamigada, Malikarjun Rural Municipality-8, Melkhet, on Wednesday morning. Traffic movement along the road section has been disrupted due to the landslide blocking the road.

Vehicular movement was halted after landslides occurred at several places on the highway. Due to the landslides, the transportation on the road has come to a grinding halt. The day and night buses heading to Mahendranagar, Kathmandu from Darchula are also stuck on the way.

Passengers have been suffering as even short-distance vehicles cannot operate on the public roads due to frequent landslides obstructing the main road. Supervisor Ganesh Bohara said that even though an excavator of the Road Division office in Patan, Baitadi, has been working to clear the debris since early morning, the road will only be fully cleared and reopened after a rock crusher excavator arrives to break the large stones.
